Why Little Forge Studio was created

Little Forge Studio started in our home, with a simple question: what if maths could be something children could hold, move, and play with instead of just seeing it on a page?

Little Forge Studio started at home, not as a business idea, but as a problem.

Like a lot of parents, I watched my kids struggle with maths. Not because they weren’t trying, but because the way it was taught just didn’t click. Numbers on a page felt abstract, frustrating, and easy to disengage from.

So I turned to what I had: my 3D printers.

What began as a simple experiment turned into something far more powerful. By creating physical, hands-on tools, I saw a shift. Maths started to make sense. It became something they could see, touch, and understand, not just memorise.

That moment changed everything.

Little Forge Studio was built from that experience. Today, I design and produce educational tools that help bring maths to life; supporting parents, teachers, and educators who want better ways to connect with their kids and students.

Every product is designed and made right here in New Zealand, using plant-based plastics because what we create, and how we create it, matters.

This isn’t just about learning maths.

It’s about building confidence, curiosity, and those small breakthrough moments that make it all click.
